Katie and Ryan's Pretty Newcastle Golf Club Wedding

I met Katie long ago when I started my first studio job. I always had a lot of fun working with Katie and she is the sweetest person around. I've known about Ryan for years, but didn't have the fortune of meeting him until we met up for Engagement photos a year ago. After a fun shoot, It wasn't hard to see what these two mean to each other. These two are tough too. I have no doubt they will achieve anything they set their minds to. Katie and Ryan held their celebration at Newcastle Golf Club and it couldn't have been a more beautiful day. Late October never felt so perfect. We were all in awe of the Autumn day. The Ceremony was followed by a lovely brunch. Decor showed hints of pink and brown and couldn't stop imagining the cherry blossoms where we did their engagement session. Congratulations Katie and Ryan, you look happy and beautiful!

Aaron and Erin's getaway wedding at The Edgewater House

Aaron and Erin were married at The Edgewater House in Ollala, WA. The Edgewater house made for a great getaway location for a cozy beach wedding. Decorated with Maxine's Floral arrangements and amazingly beautiful and good food by Cameron Catering. But most of all Aaron and Erin celebrated one of the biggest day's of their lives. Which seems funny to say because what I've seen from these two, they make all their day's big together. Almost every time I correspond with them they are off on a new adventure and even today they wrote to say they are still in Africa. The whole affair was so relaxed and beautiful. I love Aaron's navy suit and Erin's lacy vintage dress. Their friends and family are amazing and the children couldn't have been more cute waiting to get bites of cake from the Bride and Groom.

The moment I saw Kristen and Anthony I crossed my fingers in hopes they would hire me for their wedding. Sometimes you just know a good fit when you see them. Ha.. well, I knew I would love them! Kristen and Anthony from New York chose to have a destination wedding in Kristen's home city. They were married at Phinney Ridge Lutheran followed by a elegant reception at the Broadmoor Golf Club.

Linda and Zana's magical country set wedding

We just love Zana and Linda! From the first session I had several years ago, engagement session, to the long awaited wedding day. Every email and meeting was full of excitement and a growing friendship. Which grew a sensitivity to capturing their special day. They chose to have their wedding on Zana's parent's horse ranch. Where Zana's parents transformed an already stunning property into an amazing wedding site. Zana and Linda decided to book the dream team (I like to say), which includes my dear friend Brook Whitney (several of her photos included here) and Brian, my husband who's now latched on to my obsession and is enjoying shooting some old school film, including a 1920's 120 box camera and an old manual Pentax. We are loving some film back in our lives. We are just so thrilled that Linda and Zana chose us to be a part of their day. We can't stop talking about how amazing it was. We love you! Congratulations!

We had some weekend wedding fun with Cara and Carl. The weekend kicked off with a lovely Ferry Ride to Orcas and arriving at Camp Moran in Moran State park, where guests enjoyed boating, swimming, BBQ and wild life. The following day was wedding day, celebrated at The Odd Fellows Hall. Cara and Carl's laid back style was enjoyed by all. Congratulations you two! I couldn't stop saying how cute you are together.

Juliana and Randal were married in Snohomish at Belle Chapel. I knew from the moment I met Juliana and Randal this was a great match. After there engagement session this last fall I couldn't wait to document their day. They love vintage everything. From the Typewriter guest book, the library catalog seating, vintage book table settings, scrabble piece cake topper, portraits at the Antique Station and vintage police car. Not to mention they are just wonderful people. I am so excited for this happy couple!

Margo and Chuck's Wedding; Congratulations on two big events this year!

Margo and Chuck celebrated their wedding day on the Falls Terrace at the Salish Lodge . On the Terrace we enjoyed the gentile spray from the falls during Margo and Chuck's cozy ceremony. I loved watching the sweet union of this family. After great food and cake, guests enjoyed some game time with Margo and Chuck.

Birthday in Paris

Hanna decided to have a Paris themed birthday this year. Turning eleven rang in with a boutique and hair styling by Tarra Quinn for all the girls. After we celebrated with French Cafe treats. We (Sarah Smith "Deeds and Petunia") set out fine china and mismatched tea cups for the party. We used picture frames with photos of each young lady as place cards. We used french phrases for all the girls to explore the french language. We also served french food! Oh what an imagination Hanna has... and we were ready to help her create her dream party! Thanks Tara and Sarah for helping to create such an amazing party for Hanna!

Summer Sessions... Here we come!!

All the lush green, billowing clouds, local parks.. we live in one of the prettiest cities for portrait backdrops. I met Wyatt and Connor for our session at Green Lake this week. I was a little worried we were still in for Spring rain, but the clouds parted and we got some sunshine. I can't believe how much the boys change every time I see them. I swear Connor is six inches taller.

Hanna makes the most beautiful fairies out of petals, and shrubbery. I've always admired her creativity. So, I wanted to do something special to share some time with her and preserve this memory in a special way. We gathered as many pretty things we could find from the yard. I really have an admiration for spring and all it's little treasures.

We used a barbie as a fit model to create a gown.

This what we have so far. Hanna said she thought it would take a few minutes, but it was several hours and some frustration. Who knew sewing flowers and leaves together would be so hard. We have more up our sleeves for this project and I know we will face some big challenges, but I am proud that we are taking on such a big art project together. We are already proud of the work and I think Hanna is learning determination and dedication.

What to do on a Sunday at Home

What to do with a Sunday at home. A two egg and mushroom omelet. Roasted potato medley, blue, red and yellow. Top it with olive oil and a sprig of rosemary from the yard. Don't forget to ask the kids to pick the rosemary. They love to eat their very own local produce.

Make a spring yard bouquet. Step out and find what spring has sprung. Flowers, shrubs, and herbs make pretty yard bouquets. Kids can trim and add clusters to help you create a big beautiful arrangement for the house.

Invite a friend over and watch the garden grow. Kick your feet up with a simple mimosa, garnished with a fresh strawberry.

Smells to enjoy. Butter on a hot skillet with sautéed mushrooms. Lavender candle on an antique china coaster.

I love Black and White in the Studio

There is something magical about the simplicity of black and whites with great lighting. I love how expressions and details stand out. The best part is.... these are the kind you don't put on the family wall in the hall or on the fridge, you want to display them as art. I can't wait to print these.

Caleb was gracious to let me use him as a test dummy, but not without his side kick Wyatt Earp. I'm really happy he was up for it, because I'm in love with these photos of him.

Hanna was happy to do some head shots for our friend Tara Quin (TONI&GUY), who gave Hanna her fantastic new hair cut.

Wow, Skagit Valley's talented youth step out with style. Fidalgo Youth Symphony put on quite a show at last nights Masquerade Ball in the Crystal Ball Room in Bellingham. Hundreds of people marveled at the talented youth last night and it makes you wonder what's behind all this talent? It's very talented, hard working people, with hearts that won't quit for the arts. Juliana and Randal, California residents, bundled up for Engagement photos on a typical Seattle day (minus the rain). This vintage book loving duo will be married this summer in Snohomish, WA. I met Juliana and Randal several months ago and just loved them. I always cross my fingers after such a meeting, in hopes they will find my style a perfect fit for their wedding. After they said "Yes," I couldn't wait for our first shoot. We enjoyed getting to know each other more, while exploring some fun sights around the city. From across the canal to Ballard then to Fremont.

I'm so happy to have had a break in the holiday season, to enjoy one of the perks of my job.

Oh Glorious destination weddings! Camilla and Justin are creative and inspiring, but most of all they love sharing life's richest treasures, friendship, family, and love. Justin and Camilla met and fell in love in Seattle and became engaged in Turkey. It was no surprise these two decided on a destination wedding. The weekend in Upperville, Virginia was full of history and flavor. The moment we arrived we were greeted with cheers and welcoming hugs. Upperville sits on battle grounds from the civil war and is host to the oldest horse show in the nation. The ceremony was held inside the Mount Olive church (1909), of which Justin's parents (Ed and Kim), converted into a home, then converted back to a church for the wedding. Latter we continued the celebration with a parade to Hunter's Head for fabulous food and drink (http://www.fairlington.org/upperville.htm).

Tonya and Michael were married at the Belle Chapel in Snohomish on August 21, 2010. I met Tonya last winter after her New Year's engagement to Michael in Leavenworth. Hannah has been a great friend, and client of mine for some time. I enjoyed having her and her boys as a part of my summer sessions this year. We went out to one of my favorite shooting locations. I noticed how much the boys have grown and changed since our last session. We started shooting in the shade, where the boys had a chance to dig their feet in the sand. Although it was bright sunlight and hot on the beach, we snapped a few with the sailboats, the perfect backdrop for boys in plaid shorts. Hannah and I headed back up to the shade to get a few quick shots of her at the end of the session. Hannah is one of a handful of clients that knows how to help me in the studio, this time there wasn't a lot of help needed, but I was happy to give back a little this time. Hannah has a new camera! I've already seen some of her great results from our day. Thanks again Hannah!!! I had so much fun with you and your boys!

I had such a wonderful time at my dear friend Katie's wedding in Montana! I enjoyed every minute of this special celebration with Katie and Todd, from setting tables, decorating, to documenting and making new friends. Several years ago I travelled to Montana to photograph Nick and Alisha's wedding just outside of Helena. Their wedding is such a lovely memory of mine. All the family gathered on the same gorgeous property from near and far for their destination wedding. Soon I got word of the new baby coming and although California was too far for pregnancy photos, I had the opportunity to meet baby Linden in Seattle for a photo shoot last year. It was so neat to see them all back in Helena last week, and see how much their family has grown. Here are a few favorites of mine from a hillside in Montana City.

New Mini Album for Rosemary Photography

Someone once told me to sell what I love. So I searched high and low through album companys, I wanted something truly special. Something timeless, but felt like a signature encompassing the photography I produce. With the help of my friend Hannah Hurey, I found album designer Andrea Stettler-Kohler. I feel so lucky every time I enter her shop and we talk fluidly about album design ideas. Today I brought home our first mini album. It has quality and design to die for. Prints on fine art gold fiber silk paper, bound with fabric. Linen and leather cover. The design was made similar to vintage war journals, but with the fine art prints and papers. After six months, I am introducing my new mini album. Stay tuned, soon we will introduce the new full size wedding album!

Claire and Jack 06-29-2010

I met Jack and Claire years ago. Someone once asked me if I was in a band with Claire. I said "I wish!" Jack and Claire play in one of my favorite bands, Swaybacks. They gave copies of their record Story and Rose, to all their guests. Claire's father gave a speech that brought tears. The cake and food everyone talked about. The flowers, by Claire's god mother Laura Campbell, were of some of the prettiest I've seen. Giving The Engine room a wonderful garden feel. Claire's father played and received a standing ovation by the many musical guest and family. Claire's cousin filled the room with his beautiful voice. Claire and Jack danced and danced! What a glorious day!

January's Photo for the 2010 calendar was shot a few weeks before Christmas. It was our big finally shoot and it couldn't have been more fun being surrounded by such talented ladies. We had no trouble stepping into our characters for the shoot. I even dressed up for a couple shots. A lot of planning and hands went into the shoot to make it work. It was truly an amazing time and I look forward to doing another like it soon! You can read about all the people involved in the calendar shoots on the back of the 2010 Housewife Calendar. If you are just learning of the calender, it is now available for pre-sale; 7 1/2"x9" (size when closed) for $25, and now a special edition large format, 9"x13" (size when closed) for $40. She's putting together the cutest props and sets, and local ladies and children will model, to bring magic to every month of next year! The creation of the series will culminate with a show at Gossamer Collective on January 2 and the release of a limited edition calendar; essentially a beautiful collection of Rosemary Wagner's artwork!
